  • I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. I came here a few weeks ago after my dog was attacked by another dog at the dog park. It was a Friday afternoon so Banfield was one of the only options open at the time so I had to take her there. The fee for an emergency appointment is their regular $40 office visit plus an extra $50 for an emergency visit. They examined her and determined that she would need staples to seal the wound. They told me that it was going to be $340 all together. Upon further inspection of the itemized list of things done for the procedure, they charged $26.50 for medical grooming which meant they used clippers to shave a 2x2 spot around the wound to see I better. The other dogs owner was there with me and she paid for my pups visit. While we were there we specifically asked if there were any other charges for the follow up visit to remove the staples so that the other dogs owner could go ahead and pay it and they said no. The very next day, one of the staples fell out after I had been limiting her activity and we didn't even go on a walk that day. I viewed this as a mistake by them by not setting the staples well enough but I called them and they wanted to charge me an office visit fee for something they should have done the first time. After arguing with reception and threatening to call the BBB they waived the office visit fee. Now a week later, we're here to get the staples removed and the receptionist informs me that there will be a $30.95 fee today to get the staples out since they waived my visit to get the staples fixed. So basically they gave me the free visit and tried to make me pay for it when I came to get the staples out. I refused and they contacted a "central office" that said they could waive the fee for today if I just had the staples removed and didn't consult with the veterinarian. These people are a bunch of crooks that try and hemorrhage money out of you because you care for you pets health. I will be contacting the BBB. Do yourself a favor and find yourself a nice vet that isn't owned by a corporation. They are only in it to make money like the rest of big business. I highly recommend the wellness clinic at Spay Neuter Charlotte for all of your shots and things like that. I will never be returning to Banfield.
