  • Stayed 05/04/11 thru 05/05/11. One night. It was a nice-enough property. Nothing special. It was a clean room, however, it was rather dry and stuffy. We had drinks at the bar, and the bar and bartender were nice. However, our meals in their restaurant were not a good experience. (See my separate review for their "A Cut Above" restaurant, coming soon to Yelp!) BUT here's why the stay gets only 2 stars. Keep in mind, check out is 11am. 1. Very few channels on the TV. OK, we lived, for the one-night stay. 2. No internet in the rooms -- only wi-fi in the lobby. NO INTERNET IN THE ROOMS? In this day and age? OK, I lived without, for the one-night stay. But even cell phone connection for internet was weak - in fact, it was non-functioning throughout most of the building. And now the fun part. 3. At 730 am, with no warning, the clock radio alarm went off! I had no idea how to shut it off, cuz I had no desire to interact with a clock radio at this so-called "resort". I was there to GET AWAY FROM CLOCK RADIO ALARMS! Ultimately I had to unplug the thing. Now, you might say, the previous lodger might have set that alarm. True, but that does not excuse housekeeping from turning it OFF once the room was "reset" for the next lodger to use. AND KEEP READING, next paragraph, it is our FIRM BELIEF the alarm was set ON PURPOSE. 4. With a "DO NOT DISTURB!" sign hanging on our door, at 930 am the housekeeper tapped on the door, announcing "HOUSEKEEPING". Upon answering the door, we were asked "ARE YOU CHECKING OUT?" Attempting to communicate with her was useless cuz all she could say was "NO ENGLISH". It was 930 AM! NOT 1050 AM! NOT AFTER 11 AM! One of us was attempting to sleep a little longer. That attempt ended at 930 am. 5. After packing our stuff, we attempted to exit the building via a door that was adjacent to where we had parked our car the night before. You see, the night before the door was propped open, as if someone had used it for a quick exit and quick return. It appeared the door was intended to be unlocked for exiting but locked for entry, which actually made perfect sense from a security viewpoint. But THIS time, the door, with a sign above stating "MUST BE UNLOCKED DURING BUSINESS HOURS" was locked shut! This door was also supposed to be a fire exit. Glad we didn't need to use it in case of such an emergency! Therefore, we had to drag our stuff all the way around the inside and outside of the building to the car, after all. We checked out at 10 am. We will not return. If we ever return to Mt Charleston, we will try the LODGE at the top of the mountain.
