  • I've put off my visit to Banger long enough. During the last sour beer festival at the Atomic, my friend and I decided to walk down to Banger and try all of their beers. With a sample of 10 (11 with a Randalled version of their IPA), I have to say that the flight was hard to finish. In fact, we didn't. I've done a lot of craft beer tasting in my beer drinking days, the bulk of which has been at Khoury's for the last 3-4 years. I also homebrew primarily sour beers. I suppose that makes me a beer geek. Banger, unfortunately, does not join the ranks of breweries like Joseph James and Big Dogs in making me proud of my local brewing scene. I appreciate the effort, but some of the beers just got to go. The Kolsch and the watermelon wheat are just awful. The rest of the flight was mediocre at best. Their Perfect 10 was pretty good, and the only beer worth drinking. Their Randalled IPA on Cascade hops was also very good, but this is how the IPA should taste normally. This is the West Coast, after all, and if you can't make a good house IPA then you're doing it wrong. Sorry Banger, but the beers still need improvement. As much as I love local beer and want to support this brewery, I can't see myself coming back until they make some improvements.
