Criss Angel Believe was the last Vegas Cirque Sis & I had yet to see & coming to this final Cirque of the circuit had us w/ super-low expectations.
Reading the scathing reviews here on Yelp & also hearing it from friends & multiple Vegas taxi drivers.....even the waiter at the restaurant we enjoyed before the show told us this was the *only* show to receive a really bad local-paper review & that never happens since they liked to promote their local acts......we're thinking we'll just suffer it through to at least be able to say we'd seen them all
Well, I'd like to officially report that Sis & I actually ENJOYED this show & will even go so far to say we rank it *higher* than Cirque - Beatles LOVE
Campy, silly & interesting all at the same time. I had goosebumps from all the silliness & so many OMG-this-is-so-embarassing / I can't believe this is really happeneing it's SO bad, reactions that it was funny & we found ourselves having a good time.
I kept having flashbacks to "Master Thespian" from SNL....AAACTING
Criss "acts" out a story of a magic trick going horribly wrong & he's taken to a fantasy world of dancing rabbits - aka Cirque performers (i.e., the magician's white rabbit) & an evil rabbit who kills him w/ the ole sawing-in-two-trick.....on his wedding day to his fantasy true love
Some of his tricks were good & some were like yeah, right. Criss has no acting skills & didn't really connect w/ the audience - like everytime he'd say something like is everyone ready for X?!? And there'd be *no* response... crickets if you will .......but just go w/ it & accept it for what it is
If you have preconceived notions that there will be mind-blowing Cirque acrobatics or any Mindfreak-level magic of any kind, you'll be sorely disappointed
It's all about setting expectations!
