  • This hotel is centrally located (Yonge and Bloor) and it's a hotel I always miss. It is nothing ostentatious, nothing that says look at me, but I decided to check this hotel out due to a Yoga event I had to attend nearby. Right next to Bloor subway station, that was already a YES in my books. Check In. The lobby is quite small...nothing grand. I really liked that someone came out to open the door for me as I wasn't expecting that (this hotel is the one where they have the revolving doors and the regular doors...but it tells you to use the revolving doors...) Great start. It wasn't too busy and I got a trainee who was very pleasant. She asked if I had a Marriott card and I said no. She gave a blurb and I was afraid the sign up process would take forever...fill in this card, fill in that card etc...However, I was pleasantly surprised that sign up took less than 1 minute and I now have a Marriott card. Room Number 211. When I reserved online, I had requested a high floor. Obviously, that didn't go well and I ended up on the second floor. But, I was far away from the elevators (which means relatively no noise), but my room was next to the Ice and Drinks Dispenser machine (noise). Since this was for a night, no biggy. The room was great! Spacious with a chair and a comfy reclining-type of chair. Big bed, nice flat screen tv, and a nice-sized bathroom. No amenities here as in slippers and robe, but I didn't require that. Clean and no mildew smell. I even had a view of some garden area. I am loving this hotel already! The bathroom carried great products from Bath and Body Works, specifically the Orange Ginger line which I absolutely LOVE! The smell is refreshing and spicy. I was hoping to snag a few unused samples back home, but I used up everything! Hairdryer is a standalone. By the way, for those who fall in love with Marriott furniture and products, you can actually buy everything from the pillow cases, lamps, chairs, to the bed online at www.shopMarriott.com. Noise Level. When I woke up, I could hear some bottles being dispensed, but in the grand scheme of things, not a big deal. Other than that, no noise could be heard. Parking. There is Valet parking for $35 I believe per night, however, my bf who had driven decided to self park for a relatively cheaper rate. He even told me that the Hotel uses the same parking compound so why not do it yourself! Conclusion. This is a great hotel at an unbeatable location for a great price. My basic room (King Bed) rate for Friday, February 17th, 2012 ran at $169 (including taxes, fees, and a movie at $11.99). Rooms are clean, spacious, and modern. If you are looking for a quick stay, or a business hotel, this Marriott definitely delivers. And can I just say the location is absolutely great?!?!? Right by the subway, shopping, and everything that is Yorkville. Hotel Rewards Program. In my mind, Marriott is one of those hotel brands that doesn't necessarily come first to mind, but in reality, the portfolios of hotel names under the Marriott chain is impressive, including Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott, and Bulgari Hotels. Aside from all the Marriott divisions (Courtyard, Residence, etc...) I hope to be staying at more Marriott branded hotels. I absolutely love the Ritz and have stayed in the Bulgari Milan Hotel which was great so I am happy that I now have the membership card to collect points and become a true devoted fan No cost to sign up for the card, so might as well.
