  • Seeing all the great reviews on Home Appliance Service, my husband and I decided to call these guys in to fix our washer, which suddenly stopped at the rinse cycle. True to the reviews, my service guy Matt was kind and courteous, diagnosing the problem (which was a timer part replacement) then fixing it. Although I don't know how much these things regularly cost, I felt that if $500 made my problem go away as quickly as it looked like it was going away, it was worth it. My second experience with them wasn't as glowing. After using the washer once, the problem reappeared. I called and Matt said he'd be by in the afternoon and that if I ended up being busy, he'd see me in the morning because his morning was wide open. I never heard from him in the afternoon and called him around 6 to make sure then, that he would be by the next day. He said he'd be here between 9 and 11. I called at 10:30 to see if he was coming. He said he was on his way but would be a half hour. One hour later I was told he had to fix someone else's washer that was leaking everywhere and that he would be another half hr or however long it would take on the Gardiner. He quickly apologized. He arrived late still, and I didn't get an apology in person. He was nice, and was friendly to my son and dog, but I just felt that my whole day was wasted waiting around for a repair guy. There was poor communication and I felt like I was hounding him down to finish a job. The problem ended up being that when he closed the machine during the first visit a wire had gotten loose and so he had to put that back together. He was in and out in 15 minutes, which was nice but I just wish there was more communication on his end and less waiting around. I had to reschedule a number of errands and appts. UPDATE: Matt called me to apologize, which was nice of him to do. He told me he had read my review and asked if there was anything he could do to make me happier with the service. Since the work is done I can only hope he's taken my concerns to heart.
