  • The best brunch spread I've had in a while. We planned to catch up over brunch and my high school friend suggested Park Bruges. It was nearby and we were scheduled to arrive right when it opened. Luckily they had one outdoor table open which we promptly snagged. Service was a bit spotty in the beginning, although we noticed the place filled up shortly after we arrived. It's harder to grab the servers' attention when outside, so keep that in mind if you're sitting there. We decided to do a family style meal and ordered the crab cake eggs benedict, their chicken and waffles special, the breakfast poutine, and the ricotta donuts. It took about 15-20 minutes to get our food, but it was all served at the same time and wow oh wow, what a spread! Just the picture of these items is enough for a good rating. But I was even more blown away by the taste. I went for a donut first and bam! I knew we were in for a treat. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, they were the best textural experience. The dipping sauces were also perfect, chocolatey for something heavier and a fruity strawberry rhubarb for something lighter. Both sauces weren't too sweet, which I really appreciated, and they didn't feel too heavy as donuts normally do. The breakfast poutine was very well made. The fries were fried very crispy, and the presentation was beautiful. To be honest though, I didn't love the sausage gravy. The flavor was a bit flat and after the fifth or sixth bite, it felt a bit boring. Something herby or a bit of kick I think would've helped. The crab cake eggs benedict, wow. First off, beautifully arranged; I didn't want to disturb it. The colors of the hollandaise down to the fruit made it quite the portrait. The egg was perfectly poached and that bite with everything on it was just incredible. Good flavor, great texture, and all around one of the best eggs benedict I've ever had. The challah was also a nice, deliberate touch. The chicken and waffles weren't as pretty but equally tasty. The cheddar chive waffle batter was no joke. The cheesy, oniony flavor really came through and paired so well with their fluffy buttermilk fried chicken counterpart. I believe the cut was a boneless chicken breast, but it wasn't dry whatsoever. The final touch, the habanero honey, sealed the deal. You got sweet, salty, fluffy, crispy, meaty, and cheesy flavor explosion with a little kick in one bite. Game over. Prices are what I'd expect for brunch, ($13-16 per entree), and despite the average service, the food and environment were phenomenal. I would highly recommend a weekend brunch here if you get the chance.
