Sooooooo cute! I was quite surprised to find it at Bathurst and Dupont, given that the rest of the area seems like it is crumbling (and gentrifying, too) and was delighted with all the food options.
I settled on the brie and fig wrap and grabbed a chocolate macaroon later on. On the plus side, I got a student discount (YESSSSS) and the waitstaff were possibly the nicest duo I have ever encountered behind the counter. They made me feel at home.
I grabbed one of the six seats downstairs and flipped through a magazine I found in a basket full of them upstairs. While I was waiting, the woman working there brought me a glass of water for the flowers I had just bought and I was touched by this. Really! How much nicer can you get! (And the guy working there told me they were beautiful.)
As for the food, it's more mouthwatering than delectable. My brie and fig wrap was decent but I didn't care for the fig spread. I think I expected sliced figs instead, and I can't fault them for that, but it was fairly simple. It came with a side of sprouts and a gooseberry (which I love!).
The macaron was unimpressive (too dry and crumbly, except for the last two bites) and I should have bought the titular madeleine instead. As a self-proclaimed macaron aficionado, I'd opt for another pastry next time. They all looked really good.
There was a party of sorts going on in the back and I agree this would be a nice place to have a "girls' out" celebration.
In reality, I'd give this place three stars but the waitstaff were soooooooooooooo wonderful that they earned a fourth star.
