| - I think movers are one of those things where it really depends on who you actually get on the day of the service, but I'd use these guys again. I wasn't 100% fond of the booking/management process, but I didn't have to carry my own stuff and there were only a few minor scratches, so I'll take it.
I booked through U-Haul's moving help section and got a call from Ron about a week ahead of time. He explained what I'd need to provide (a ton of moving blankets, furniture wrap, hand trucks, and tie-down straps) and asked about specific items (flat screen TVs, appliances, etc.). All my TVs were in their original boxes, so they weren't a problem and I didn't have appliances. I was a little put off by the number of times said that I'd have to sign a damage waiver, which I never did actually see (I guess because I had what I was supposed to?). They gave me a one hour window and showed up right in the middle of it.
The two guys that showed up were very polite and capable. They assessed the pile of stuff and tetris-ed it all into my truck. They also moved a few things around in the house I was moving out of. There was a little delay while they inspected a mechanical problem with the beat up pick-up truck that they arrived in, and then we were on our way. At the unload location, they put everything where I asked and didn't balk if I asked to open a box before they took it somewhere. I had a tricky staircase that they worked around pretty well. They were reasonably careful not to damage anything and I was left with only a few minor rubs and scratches.
At the end of the day, the warden (Ron) showed up to supervise and make sure they ended on time. By then, they were a little behind, but they picked up the pace and we helped cart the last of it inside. Good thing too, because Ron was just itching to put his hand out and ask me to pay for another hour (on top of the 8 hours I already paid for).
