| - This is without a doubt the best place for your weekly shopping in the Cleveland area. The fruits and vegetables are in the outer L-shaped enclosure, and everything else is in the big central building.
The produce is at least as fresh as at the supermarket, with much more selection, and prices about a third as much (and less if you are skilled at haggling). A few stands sell things that can be genuinely difficult to obtain elsewhere. When things are in season you will find local produce, but unlike some farmer's markets, in the off-seasons you will find the place is just as full, with imported goods from all over.
The inside place features a variety of stands but it's stronger in some areas than others. The meats are outstanding, especially when it comes to pork. There are multiple excellent sources of polish and other eastern-european sausages, various cuts of pork, and bacon, all very fresh and very cheap. It's harder to find good beef or beef products.
There are a number of bakeries, but in my opinion, none of them are outstanding. There are better places to get both bread and sweets, even in Cleveland. There's a spice stand...a place to get coffee, and a few strange stands that are hard to describe.
Also worth mentioning is the store in the corner...a small import store that sells, among the typical European imports, very good (and very affordable) feta cheese.
Parking is a nuisance. There is a lot, and it's free, but the lot can be an absolute ZOO when the market is open, especially on Saturdays. The lot across the street is NOT for the market--it's for the stores in the small shopping plaza. It's better to live nearby and walk, or live near the red line rapid (RTA) and take that.
