| - To be fair, there are so many styles and approaches to massage - maybe this was just a bad fit for me; some reviewers here liked Elena and I can imagine how that may be the case. But I won't be going back. It was not awful, but definitely a "meh - I've had better".
The place is just a little run down & dirty (needed a good sweeping at least), and the bathrooms were "halfway to gross" (down the hall - a community bathroom for that floor of the building; not her problem or responsibility, but still, not a positive impression either).
It's a little hard to describe the massage but I'll try. It was firm (which is fine), but also "brusque, mechanical, haphazard". She used her elbows and forearms more than I've ever experienced with any prior message - sometimes that's too blunt an approach for specific areas if overused (it was). And it was not particularly relaxing or energizing.
I wrote down 2 minor medical conditions on the form she asked me to fill out at a first visit - - both could have been impacted positively or negatively by the massage - and she asked nothing about either.
When I booked the appointment, I requested a 60 minute massage. At about the 45-50 minute point she said - "did you want 60 or 90 minute?". Not offensive but just kind of odd Added a bit to the "inattentive" aspect of the whole experience.
I've honestly had better massages from relatively new hires at Massage Envy that had a better overall approach (at least for me), asked more questions, and seemed more methodical and attentive.
Again, not awful, but I can't really recommend this company given how many other great massage options there are around town.
