After a balmy, warm December skiers and snowboarders can finally indulge in their love of their sport. Mont Saint Sauveur is one of many mountains in Quebec where you can come for a day on the ski slopes. It's about an hour from Montreal so it's fairly close. It is also one of the few mountains in Quebec that offers night skiing. The cost of a lift ticket is about $60 which is slightly above average but not too overpriced.
The mountain consists of 38 runs in total. It's a decent mix of greens, blues and blacks but none of them are particularly hard (blacks included). This makes it a great mountain for beginners but more experienced skiers might find it a little underwhelming. On the particular day I was here they also had closed a large majority of the blues which was annoying since that left only greens and blacks.
On weekends it's a zoo and that translates into long lines at the lifts which cuts into the amount of skiing you can do. We were here for day skiing but it seems that come nights (on weekends at least) the crowds increase quite a bit making it worse. The large crowds also mean the runs are packed with people making it hard to go very fast.
The mountain as a whole provided an okay experience for me. Since it was my second time out the fact that the mountain wasn't too hard didn't bug me much since I'm still getting into the swing of things, however I'm not sure I'll be back before the ski season is over. I'd much rather go to a mountain with fewer crowds which makes it possible to get more from my day on the slopes.
