| - This place really sucked! This review was from 2013 before i bought a house in Vegas and this place can traumatize anyone. I have hosteled 'back in the day globally' and this was one of the worst. The only worse one just a notch above was in NYC where someone was murdered outside the place (by Columbia University....sketchy neighborhood). The worst ever hostel and I have been to many as I am an Aussie (we like our hostels). The place is full of incompetents running the front desk and pervs abundant (no, I was not wearing my fire dancing garb). I got in late and my reservation at El Cortez (my usual choice when i would come to town /that gives you free slot play and a small but decent gym with new equipment and fresh fruit). I got desperate for a 'reasonably priced' room that was near the EDC shuttles since I was no way no can do driving to the EDC and did not feel like driving another 25 min (and likely two hours to drive from there to EDC with the traffic and the shuttles were walking distance from this pit) to stay with friends in Summerlin so, I made a plea to the guy at the front desk/reservation but....it was peak time and every hotel was sold out. The few still available were INSANE $$$. My room reservation was given away since I was more than six hours late (even when I paid the online deposit). The guy said I can give you a bed for 55.00/night (yikes). I had really no choice for the time, hour, and cost. This hostel is filthy, smells like middle eastern men with smelly armpits...NASTY!). Most hostels I have stayed are pretty clean. I rationalized it was only for one night and I could figure out something with one of the people I was working with (hopefully). I was 'captive audience of one.' I fire danced and was getting paid so, I just dealt with it and went directly to the room to grab a shower and some shut eye due to crazy hours of EDC. This place is filthy (literally). If you are super unlucky and get a room in the back (most people) then, you get to walk through literal dirt and rock. I guess paving this place was too much trouble as was cleaning, buying some decent pots and pans, and an actual sheet that fit on the bed (mine slid off various times in the night which means BED BUGS). My special present to top off this 'gem' was a guy that was in the room (yes, they only had coed and even this (although much cheaper than most places) was at premium of 55.00 a night (what is normally a 13.00 dollar bed (I was told)).Lucky me! Talk about price gouging but I was sure not going to cough up 350 for what was left to last minute idiots (such as myself) for getting caught in EDC traffic hell.... Anyway, this guy was trying to flirt and getting way to close to my personal zone(WTH?). I told him to beat it. Finally, the kicker....the night got more spectacular as the one guy became FOUR MORE (and me). A freakin room of snoring guys. My note: get a freakin' private or one of those nose pincher devices (only a few bucks) if you snore. That has to be up there with not showering (sick and wrong). Have some decency to those that actually want to sleep you morons...just saying. WORDS TO THE WISE: Stay away from this flea bag and do not come to Vegas more than an hour late for EDC or you will lose your reservation and quite possible your sanity/safety/marbles//life/etc.. The guy said they were sold out but had a last minute cancellation and all I can say is luck to the person that did not make it there. .I may be a bit overly dramatic but learn from my mistakes. This was up there with one of my more memorable ones!
