My daughter was treating me to lunch. Even though our family avoids the over-congested, over-hyped Mill Ave circus like the plague, we decided that Irish food is what we had a hankering for. I knew that Rula Bula had great Yelp reviews and it was close to the ASU art museum we planned on visiting.
I had the Bistro Filet Medallions ($9) and my daughter had the Irish Stew ($8). Her 2 year old son had the fish and chips kids meal ($6). My daughter also had the Magners Cider. Overall the food was good, but I was a little surprised by the whiskey-peppercorn gravy on my meat and mashed potatoes. When they say whiskey, they are not kidding. This is the first time I have ever had a gravy with vapor-action!
Pros: Good food, nice Irish pub vibe, and a misted patio that would be nice if it weren't in full sun on a 105 degree day with 45% humidity.
Cons: Parking, parking, parking. There is no parking lot for this restaurant. There is a pay-$2-per-hour lot next door to the restaurant. That means that we will not be making a return visit to this establishment. The valley has way too many restaurant options to put up with being gouged for parking.
