| - This is a strange review for me to write since I am a vegan, but definitely necessary due to my killer experience purchasing a USDA Prime NY strip. You're probably thinking WTF is a vegan doing writing a review about a butcher shop, they can't possibly know what they're talking about--let me assure you, I know more than most omnivores about meat and I personally cooked it so I'm well aware of the overall quality of the meat I purchased from The Butcher Shop. Anyway, I digress; back to my review of this awesome spot.
I was cooking for my new boyfriend and really wanted to impress. Steaks from the market are simply not up to par for what I was looking to accomplish. My initial thought was that I would go porterhouse, but the Prime NY strip looked amazing so I went that route instead. Keep in mind, this is not a cheap cut of meat at $21.99/lb; the steak I purchased was around $23 for a one-person serving.
The gentleman who assisted me was helpful in selecting a flawlessly cut strip (he did say they were all perfect because he cut them himself); nevertheless, I was still selected a beautifully marbled high-quality steak I knew would impress. I also was informed not to burn it, lol (apparently most vegans cannot cook a steak). As for how the steak turned out, well...I can cook, so it was a perfect mid-rare and was not burned, and my guy said it was the best steak he's ever had cooked from home and one of the top steaks he's EVER had (he frequents steakhouses such as Del Frisco's and Morton's).
I used to come here with a chef who ran several top steakhouses here in LV, and I will definitely return anytime I need to purchase high quality meat to cook for my new guy, my family, and my friends.
