Friends told me about this place which evidently has been around for a long time. Wife and I tried it for lunch twice but haven't tried it for a supper. We were seated in a room to the right and it was quiet, decorated like someones dining room, and very at-home feeling.
There is a daily lunch special. On Thursday it's chicken fried steak with choice of white or brown gravy. I had the white and it came with the taste of bacon drippings in it....just like my mother used to make! It was excellent..simply excellent. Am planning on going back today (Thurs) to see if it's excellent twice. I don't like Turkey which seems to be Mother's claim to fame. Wife liked it so much that the second time she had the turkey again. I've also tried the roast beef which I don't normally care for but this was excellent. It came on a open bread bun. The beef was excellent. A couple of men in a neighboring table were raving about the pot pie. Will try that next time.
I gave it four stars but considering that it's American down home cuisine, and that that kind of restaurant is very hard to find it probably deserves five stars.
If you try it, you'll like it. Guaranteed.
