I like the store's variety and quality of products. However, I would say you should really do you're homework when it comes to buying "basic" items like layering shirts or undergarments. I bought a thermal that was twice as much as another sporting good store after the fact. I did buy some snow boots that I really liked at REI that was a better value there than the other place. I would say like hiking or camping, plan ahead, do you're research, and try to avoid last minute packing/buying. REI has some good sales and like a garage style sale that would save you some money on good products, so keep an eye out for that. Customer service is really helpful too there if you're not sure what to pack, buy, or use.
