What an interesting new place in Lawrenceville! Definitely worth a try, as this is the first ever rolled ice cream shop in Pittsburgh.
The concept of rolled ice cream originated in Thailand. The ice cream is actually created right before your eyes, starting from a liquid base and then solidifying as it is moved around on a frozen stone. As the ice cream solidifies, it is rolled into small cylinders and then placed in the cup and topped with all sorts of goodies. I chose the "Cookie Monster" option but substituted in coffee ice cream instead of chocolate. It was fun seeing the ice cream created right before my eyes, and really quite delicious. It was smooth and creamy, and one of the employees mentioned that the base is made from only a couple ingredients (thus making it healthy, if you ask me). Hah!
All the varieties are a flat $7.00. It's nice that everything is one price and you basically can choose anything that you want, but $7.00 for a cup of ice cream is a little pricey for my liking. I'm going to have to reserve this for special occasions only, unfortunately. That being said, this is still an awesome new place in Lawrenceville that you should definitely try out!
