| - I almost changed my mind about eating here for my birthday after reading some reviews. Boy, am I glad we went anyway. The view alone was terrific, and the service was delightful. The restaurant is located on the 50th floor of the Rio Hotel. It is decorated in contemporary western art such as the giant metal t-bone hanging on the wall next to the host counter.
We were taken to the table by a very nice woman who acknowledged my birthday thanks to the lady at the door downstairs (we - ah-hem, no the boys, were late for the reservation). She let the restaurant know I was there and to hold our reservation.
We were seated by the window and our drink order was taken promptly. I ordered the crab cakes and the boys ordered salad as an appetizer. The crab cakes were crispy on the outside and sweet and juicy on the inside. The boys enjoyed their salads.
The waiter suggested the Chilean Sea Bass, and M's boss ordered that entree. To his delight it was delicious. I ordered a filet with a wine sauce and asparagus. All sides are a la carte and enough to share. M ordered a filet as well with a pepper sauce. The steaks were tender, juicy and cooked to order.
The waiter brought a plate with 3 tiny desserts and a lit candle for my birthday. The "boys" ( I use that term loosely) sang Happy Birthday quietly and I enjoyed what seemed to be a mango/cream custard, a chocolate wafer thingy and another chocolate item. It was sweet of them to do that.
After dinner, M and I went upstairs to the club and he bought me the famous Witch Doctor drink. It was a huge, fruity, sweet, dry ice steamin' concoction that made my birthday!
