| - The rooms at the Thompson: Met up with some out of town friends in a room on the 5th floor, and was not impressed with the sort of "Romper Room" style decor. A very forgettable room indeed. Perhaps they have better rooms, so I shall comment only on what I know.
The Counter: This 24hr spot on Bathurst Ave is part of the Thompson hotel. If you have the late night munchies and don't mind spending $20 -30/person on breakfast, this is the spot for you.
Scarpetta: This restaurant is also part of the Thompson hotel. Chef Scott Conant who owns the chain of restaurants was not there, and neither was the flavor in his signature meatless home-made pasta dish.
The Rooftop: Went to a late night "Thompson Tuesdays" on the hotel's rooftop recently. WOW, what a lovely view! Sadly, although it was packed there was no eye candy, or good music (sounded muffled). The two confused female-model-promoters, who I will not mention here, have no idea what they are doing. Massive fail as a summer party in Toronto. This rooftop only holds 200 people. Ladies, do not go here if you are beautiful, dressed nicely, have your heels on, and are looking to have a good time! You will only see unattractive, sloppily dressed men, or other undesirables who are friends of the crew getting in ahead of you while you stand in line and wonder WTF? Get an upscale room, invite several of your friends, and have a mid-day rooftop pool party instead. Picture of the pool at night: http://ow.ly/i/eUpJ
