| - I want to like Medz..Really do. But I can't....
I came in to Medz a year and a few months ago for a big haircut - I wanted to bring my long hair (almost mid-back) up to a shoulder length bob. After explaining what I wanted to Claudia, I let her do her thing, and was so upset when I saw that she went 2-3 inches ABOVE my shoulder. It was short..like way shorter than I wanted and was barely below my chin.. When I mentioned this to her, she said that this is what I had asked for, so I'm not sure where the miscommunication was really but I left feeling very stressed out about my new haircut (it was so short that I couldn't really put it up in a bun/ponytail).
A year later, after growing it out and not allowing anyone to touch it so I could get some length back, I returned to the salon, but asked to be paired up with someone with more experience. I was scheduled for a haircut with Stephen. I really enjoyed his energy and personality. I explained that I wanted a shoulder length fun bob (again), and that I wanted a thick straight fringe. Things were going well, but then he started telling me that he wanted me to try something different and gave me a side fringe instead (I've had every haircut known to man minus a pixie cut so not sure why he thought this was new for me). I mentioned that I really wanted a straight bang, and so he told me to try this out and then come back again if I changed my mind. I decided to be open to the idea. The haircut itself was VERY layered - I asked for layers because I enjoy volume but I had made it clear that I didn't want a mushroom cut (puffy on top and flat on the bottom) which you usually get when there are too many short layers. Guess what I got? A mushroom cut. I've had my haircut now for 3 months, and still hate it everyday. I don't like the fringe and I really hate the cut. Stephen was super dynamic and easy to talk to, but unfortunately this cut doesn't do it for me.
Overall, not really happy with this salon although I'm sure they're doing something right due to rave reviews. I guess I just had 2 unfortunate experiences. Won't be back unfortunately.
