| - The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and well maintained. Cleanliness throughout the resort must not be a priority. We are locals and decided to book a room for the day, to mainly to use the pool areas. I called prior to arrival about a private cabana. I must say the website is very misleading as it states, cabanas run from $125 to $350 a day, depending on season. I was quoted $350 a day and also informed it would only be available from 8 to 6. With check in being at 4 and us only staying there one night, it would have been pointless. I used to work at a Five Diamond Resort in North Scottsdale, after memorial day, we are no longer in season, to charge $350 during peak season is understandable, but in July is outrageous. The pools are very beautiful, however there were dirty wet towels everywhere, along with empty beer cans and cups, even saw several glass beer bottles in the pool area. We were out there for a good four hours that evening and we only saw one pool worker. All he did was close off the cabanas, however all the food trash, bottles and wet towels remained throughout the entire pool area. That in itself was a major turn off and both pool areas remained this way all night. Also the pool area is not 24 hours, they close at 11pm. I believe the bar area and water slide closes at 5. The pool area remained very busy all evening and they would probably make a lot of money if they had a server out there until the pool area closes, or at least a phone and menu to order from room service. All the other resorts I've stayed at has that option at least. The resort seems extremely understaffed. I waited 15 minutes just to check in. The fastest service we received was from the kitchen staff and bartender in the Alto area. They were wonderful, went above and beyond, the only reason for two stars. The white chocolate Panna Cotta was outstanding. There should be more focus on maintaining the overall guest experience and more training. Customer relations and service need to improve as well as maintaining a clean property. From the time we arrived until we checked out trash remained all throughout the hallways. Maybe you should add some garbage areas around the guest room areas. The room was fairly clean, the bed seemed pretty comfortable but we didn't even end up sleeping there. A standard king room would be comfortable for 1 to 2 guest. Be warned anytime you open the patio or balcony door the AC automatically shuts off, this feature is not pleasant for the climate in Arizona. If you are not used to this heat or are elderly, I would suggest staying elsewhere. The handicap layout is absolutely horrid. I excepted higher standards from the overall Hyatt brand and this properties management team.
