| - I had booked a one-night getaway with my boyfriend through Hotels.com, enticed by the reasonable price. Don't be fooled by the pictures on the site, they are decieving.
The first issue I ran into was that I had booked a room with a single king size bed and when we checked in, the room we were sent to had 2 queen beds. I went back to the main office to notify them of this, and was told that we would have to stick with the room as it was the one reserved for us. FYI, the queen beds are not that big - we sleep on a queen at home and this seemed to be a little bigger than a double.
The overall appearance of the room itself was definitely a turn off - dark, dingy, outdated and just not clean, not to mention FREEZING! The bathtub/shower is tiny and very run-down and grungy looking. I was very tempted to grab a bottle of bathroom cleaner on our way back from dinner that evening.
One particular feature that attracted me to the hotel was the pool and sauna, which look really nice in the pictures. Well, in reality you have to walk outside in your swim gear to go there as there are no change rooms and the pool and sauna are very cramped. There are also house in an enclosure that is completely windowed, a little awkward when everyone going into the office can see you in your swimsuit.
Unless you're in a bind and need a bare-bones, cheap place to crash for the night, spend the extra money and stay at one of the other hotels in the area.
If you're looking for a place to have a romantic night or weekend with your significant other, this really doesn't cut it. Kinda kills the mood when you're concerned about catching STDs from the sheets.
