| - I had been researching where to get my curls taken care of for months. Curl Bar has always shown up, but like every curly lady attached to her hair, I was reluctant to take the plunge and cut the damage out. My curls have been begging to be freed from the bleach and heat damage I'd inflicted. I researched each and every stylist there. I found the stylist suited for me, and I'm reluctant to mention her name, as she seems to be the best kept secret of Curl Bar.
On the website, they make it a point to be explicitly clear about their services, and what they entail. I booked a medium curly haircut, which includes a dry cut, a wash, condish, style, finishing touches (if there are a few strays that gotta go!), and what's called a curlscription (basically a list of products, how to use them, to keep your curls cared for and healthy). You know when you go to a salon and they just charge you whatever they want because they don't specify what length qualifies as extra long, or long? That doesn't happen here at all!
I was greeted immediately when I walked in for my appointment (which I booked online). I was addressed by name, which sounds like it's not a big deal, but it was really nice. The salon is decent sized, so you won't likely be running into anybody. It was spotless!
Keisha was very warm and inviting. She's been in the hair industry for ten years! She offered me coffee, water or tea; nice touch! She asked me about my regimen, gave me constructive advice, and asked me what I'd like to do. I said I'd like to keep as much of my length as we can, but at the same time rid the damage. She asked me about what shape I'd like, and she executed perfectly. I was really afraid that it'd end up being a big chop, and I'd walk home bawling. Keisha was really attentive and chatted with me about what I should be doing to keep my curls healthy. After the dry cut, we went over to wash, condition, style.
I was super comfortable, and she was really gentle with my hair. I never once felt like my hair was being yanked about or handled without care. When we finished, I was under the dryer for a bit. I'm not sure how long, time flew while I was in there! When I was done drying, we got rid of some strays, and finished up my style. I like my hair big and with just enough definition. Keisha executed this style without a single picture perfectly.
She explained exactly what she was doing, what she used, and how to use it at home. I very thankfully have the shampoo and conditioner already, but the leave in, I needed! Really reasonable pricing, too. I didn't find that anyone was hard on upselling products at all, which is nice. I received a microfibre towel for free with my purchase!
I've already booked my next appointment with her. Curl Bar, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I can't speak for the other stylists, but I found mine! See you in February!
