  • This deli is in the Basha's shopping center on the corner of Granite Reef & MacDonalds facing toward Granite Reef. Went there based on the reviews from yelp and was looking for a good hero with Italian bread. I will not go back. The place is very dirty and not at all inviting. They did not slice the meat in front of me like I am used to with deli's the meat was in a cooler with the cheeses and condiments. The same lady who does the cash register also makes your sandwiches and she does not wear gloves or washes her hands, very disgusting to eat food which someone handles money and then makes your sandwich without washing their hands. The cashier did mention everything is homemade by her father which I had to wonder since they have boxes of food in their freezer not home made but the cheescake comes from someplace else. The salads and rice pudding looked disgusting. I know they just celebrated their 38th year but I wish they went back to when they had the slicer out and sliced the meats in front of you and washed their hands before service. Not a good place to go for fresh food. The hero was good my friend said I told him I would not eat it because the lady had dirty hands, but he ate it and like it. if you go ask the lady to wash her hands first, not sure if she will but then ask her to use gloves if they have none, then you know what kind of establishment it is. Good heros bad etiquette. They operate the same way as subway except subway employees wear gloves. Want an authentic NY Hero from Subway just bring in a Hoagie roll and they will make you a sandwich, it is all about the bread. Casellas also raised their prices now a 6 inch Hero with roast beef and cheese is $7.65... no more $6 Heros. Not worth it especially since their are other options and the food or the employees wash their hands or wear gloves elsewhere. Bacteria is terrible to get from someone not have the decency to wash their hands and touch food. Disgusting, Disgusting, Disgusting!!!
