  • This place is the ultimate example of SUPERFICIAL!!! Shallow, materialistic and false! I look for good quality foods and products, and I went there today to get some loose organic tea. I had a few bucks to spend that were burning a hole in my pocket so I ran over to AJ's thinking they would have something for me. Well, they didn't, and I actually left there with nothing!? I really tried though. I looked at the produce: nicely laid-out and fairly priced, but minimal organics (lettuce, celery, carrots and a few herbs - that was it) and they were not priced - NO PRICES TO BE FOUND. But the conventional items had prices displayed - just not the 3 - 4 (what I suspect to be ridiculously over priced) organic items. Then I checked out their meats: no organics and the meat looked dark (purple/brown dark). It was gross, but it could have been the extremely dim lighting making it look so dark though, IDK (it was like they were tying to set an ambiance of romance in the meat department? Weird). So I skipped that. I want to be able to see the food I purchase. I continued to stroll around the store hoping to find organic items and some tea - nothing much whatsoever. I saw a few flours - no spices at all and no oils. Like I said nothing much whatsoever. I am confused. Isn't this supposed to be "the purveyor of fine foods"? There is really nothing here (shallow, superficial and false!). They have a few (very few things) but nothing much at all (like I keep saying). I am so disappointed. I really wanted to get something... so I thought, "I will get a sandwich or something for lunch." Eeewha. I skipped that too - everything looked a little too stale and a little too old. I hate to admit it, but Whole Foods has a much better selection of EVERYTHING! - - even Sprouts does. This place was a waste of time. I was so psyched too; I wanted them to be a new local hot spot for organics and some gourmet foods - but nope; they are not. This place is all show. I expect they will soon go out of business. You can't make money on people who go there to just sit outside and read books - which looks like an okay thing to do. They had a nice selection of flowers though. If you want to build a special bouquet, you can try here (but it will be expensive). And they seemed to have a great wine section (about 1/4 of the store LOL). They had guys in suits walking around with clipboards trying to look intelligent and important - just straying back and forth throughout the isles - so I suspect you can get great assistance with wine here. But that is about it. Even the salad bar was old and gross looking . I was so disappointed. I was in a spending mood and left empty handed; a really difficult thing for me to do.
