We happened to come to the NASCAR hall of fame on fan appreciation day. We got free entry (usually $20) and they also had drivers there giving autographs, including the big shots! It was so worth it so keep an eye out for this event again!
Right when you walk in you see a fake track around the building which has the timeline of race cars dating back to the 1940s. You also learn about the different tracks around the country. Very cool to see the evolution of the vehicles. There's also a section where you can climb the race track, at 32 degrees, so you can understand how the tracks are built. My mother in law wasn't able to climb it due to knee problems, but they have a car that will lift disabled and elderly people up to 32 degree so they can get the same experience.
My favorite part of the hall of fame were the race stimulators and the "changing station". The race stimulators were free and you could race people. It gave you the sensation that you were driving the car- note if you go to the speedway you can actually do ride alongs and go 180mph around the track. It did it before. So worth it!
The "changing station" tested your speed on lifting the car, fueling and changing the tires. You also get to race against the people next to you. My husband and I did it in 21 seconds, but the record is about 9 seconds. So crazy how fast they do it!!
They also had a great museum showcasing the uniforms and past trophies.
Overall I thought it was a great experience and I would highly recommend it!
