I recently moved to the PHX area and wanted to get a cleaning done on my old insurance before I started a new job. As most people feel I was not looking forward to get a cleaning but I was way overdue. I did some searching around online, read a bunch of reviews on many websites and decided to give A Glowing Smile a call. I explained my situation to the receptionist and how I would be moving from NorCal and needed to be seen within a short window. She was more than helpful and was able to find a time that worked for me the day after I drove into town.
Appointment day came and I showed up. Being new to the area I let Siri give me direction. Now I have to be completely honest here and say that when driving there I had many questions running through my mind. The first one was "where in the heck is Siri taking me?" And second "Is this really where this office is?" The location of A Glowing Smile did not seem to be I the most "new and upcoming" type of place BUT.... When I walked in the door I was in shock! I was greeted with a very friendly hello and was it was even by my first name. The inside of the office was very nice, new and modern. Previous dental care locations that I have been to in NorCal had a "doctors office" feel to them and always had a funny smell. A Glowing Smile on the other hand had a day spa feel to it. It was like I walked into the Claremont Resort in Berkeley, CA. A comparable location someone not familiar with this resort would be the Biltmore in Scottsdale.
The whole experience while I was there was more than pleasant. Every little detail seemed to be thought out. The chairs that you are in while they are working on your teeth were super comfy, they have TVs that are on the ceiling that you can watch while they work. A bummer was that they didn't have any movie channels like HBO but they did have a lot more stations than any other doctors office. The hygienist was awesome and they use a tool that uses water to help clean your teeth and not just that little hook tool to forcefully scrape your teeth clean. All the equipment they used seemed to be the latest and greatest. Especially when it came to X-rays. The little thing they put in your mouth didn't hurt like it has at other offices. Dr. Maruska came in after the cleaning and had to tell me the bad news. I had a cavity. So she recommended a filling and I made an appt for the following Monday at 7am.
I showed up bright and early. I have had troubles in the past with my dentist being able to numb the area they were working on. Dr. Maruska made a recommendation on a different type of medicine and it worked the first time within 5 min. I was thrilled because I HATE needles. Dr. Maruska was very gentle while working away in my mouth (haha typing that made me giggle a little bit.) She was very speedy with her work and it was another pleasant experience.
I almost forgot to mention the help that I got on my insurance stuff. Being that I am covered from my previous employer and don't start my new coverage until mid month, the secretary was able to look up and compare my two plans to figure out the cheapest way for me to do all this and if I should wait until the new health coverage to kick in.
Overall I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Maruska and her team for there professionalism, individual care and genuine concern, modernization of equipment and facilities and quality of work. I am not 100% sure where I am going to end up living here in the Phoenix area but I still will continue to go here.
P.s. The hot pink gloves were a nice touch!
