I was sorry to see that Shaking Beef no longer appears on the dinner menu, but nevertheless enjoyed a very good substitute entree of Salisbury Steak that was slathered with a really thick mushroom-laden Brown Gravy and topped by a high ridge of tasty Mashed Potatoes. The steak was about 8 inches long, and surrounded by somewhat hard but fresh broccoli, green beans, and sweet potatoes.
But before I dug into the chopped sirloin, I reveled in buttered slices of the Grand Lux's renowned complimentary sourdough bread; enjoyed a few of Diane's addictive Pot Roast Cheese Fries; and at length polished off a large app of Crispy Thai Shrimp & Chicken Spring Rolls and a Mini Luxor Salad with Garlic Croutons and Blue Cheese Dressing. The Spring Rolls were filled with thinly diced shrimp and chicken that tasted great joined with a few carrot slivers and a single mint leaf before being enveloped in lettuce leaves and then dipped in a very vibrant Thai Sweet-Hot Chili Sauce. The salad proved unnecessary, but was otherwise a good small lettuce and tomato-based dish.
Another night savoring fine comfort food at this grand establishment!
