As a veteran in this festival circuit I've gone every year since the innagural 2-day festival that it was in 2013. The previous 3 years the lineup way exceeded the price that you were paying for a 3-day ticket especially if you went with the early bird ticket and was known as a bargain festival. Every lineup looking back at it was solid however this year I was confused by not only the bookings but also the scheduling and placement on the bill....
Honestly I feel like they can do away with the learning part/motivational speaking part of the festival and either make it a separate event similar to like a "Vegas local TED Talks" or have it a day before the festival. I understand the reasoning for this BUT majority of people there are for the music.
Now the reason why this festival warrants 4-stars is their excellent food offerings (even though prices compared to what you get is basura), the crazy art installations throughout Downtown that change over the years, and the overall vibe of having a festival in the middle of DTLV and seeing the transformation and the energy. Like I mentioned the price point for the lineup was great 3 of the 4 years but the headliners this year was mehhh.
There's still a lot of work to be done to have this as a Tier A Festival (currently imo Tier B) however it does have the potential to be one of the top ones in the U.S.
