| - If you're looking to purchase a home from Mattamy Homes USA Mattamy Homes, DON'T! My husband and I just closed on our home a week ago and it has been a terrible experience... During our final walkthrough, the items we noted were not completed. Item's that were done were "band-aid" fixes. Once you close, no one cares to help you. Please see all of the examples below:
1. The stone for our outdoor fireplace was not completed, but they said it would be the following week. Well, the stone we picked out was a grey/white and they installed black stone.
2. There are literally holes in our drywall up our entire staircase as well as holes by the light switch plates. After trying to get someone for a week (again one of the items we addressed in our final walkthrough), they sent out ONE guy that didn't even bother to pull up the carpet or remove the switchplate before fixing the drywall. I tried to explain to him why I was unhappy, but he barely spoke English.
3. We have a kitchen cabinet that is apparently on order but has yet to be delivered and we have not been given a delivery date. I would love to unpack my kitchen but haven't been able to yet.
4. There was trash all over our backyard and in the hole dug for the pool. We had to ask THREE times for that to be removed before it finally was thrown away today. Please keep in mind that we closed back on 2/23/18.
5. During our final walkthrough we noticed that two layers of blocks had been added to our wall by the neighbor and was clearly done by a handyman that didn't have the correct paint, so now there are spots all over the wall. The neighbor did this without the HOA's approval and when we brought this up, Mattamy's construction manager says, "Oh yeah, I noticed that a couple of weeks ago..." Really?! The neighbors also installed a side gate and in order to install it, drilled all the way through to our side of the yard. Both items have yet to be addressed.
In addition to the major items noted above, we've had several smaller items, but Mattamy encourages you to wait, put together a list, and hand it over in 30 days when their warranty person contacts you. Based on the poor quality of work, and unresponsiveness, I'm nervous to wait until the end of our 30 day warranty period.
My advice to anyone is to NOT purchase a home built by Mattamy and if you are already in the process, do not close on the home until you have confirmed that all repairs are done and look good to you. We should've known better.
