| - I thought Drake Dentistry was great! This is the third dentist I have seen in three years in Charlotte, so I'm happy to say that I think I've found one that I really like. The first dentist I went to always kept me waiting for at least 30 minutes. The second dentist was great, but was all the way in Lake Norman and since we recently moved to NoDa I needed something a little closer. Drake Dentistry was a great choice and I'm so glad I didn't allow the negative reviews on here to deter me from becoming a patient!
The office is decorated beautifully. I thought the staff at Dr. Drake's office were all terrific. Dr. Drake was really complimentary, friendly and seemed to be very knowledgeable. Oh, and did I mention they have flat screen tv's connected to your chair??? Awesome, right?
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I did wait about 10-15 minutes to be seen after returning my paper work to the receptionist. But, once I was called back I was never kept waiting! I also agree with one other reviewer on here about cost: I don't like the fact that all of the services I needed were more expensive than what my insurance covered. I kind of feel like they should either lower the prices, or not accept the insurance. Moreover, like other reviewers mentioned, Dr. Drake recommended that I also get three crowns. I don't care how amazing your insurance is, crowns are EXPENSIVE. So the fact that he recommended THREE, kind of took me aback (especially since I was never told this from previous dentist). In his defense, however, He did not at any time say that it was urgent and stated only that it was a recommendation.
SN: For one of those, my tooth is actually broken so I knew I needed a crown ASAP. As a matter of fact both of my old dentists told me I needed a crown on that one tooth, so it was no surprise, but I was really shocked when he said I needed THREE crown. I actually appreciated the heads up nevertheless. It showed me that he took the time to really look at the issues regarding my teeth and was only doing his job by recommending what he deemed the best service to prevent any further damage or decay. I will take that kind of care over a dentist who pops his head in the room, looks in your mouth, says everything is fine, and moves on to the next patient any day. If a Dr. Drake is in the wrong for making dental recommendations, than I'm okay with that.
Did I mention that the staff was wonderful? They were so gentle and patient and made sure to address any issue that I may have had. They even squeezed my next appointment in on a Saturdays when I stated that it was difficult to come in during the week. I'm not sure why others had such a bad experience here. I can assure you - mine was great! And that's saying a LOT about a dentist!
