| - I was a first-timer in this boutique the other day, and while the merchandise is very cute and the boutique itself is charming, I am disappointed in how I was treated by asking a simple question. I did not realize the shop has been there as long as it has, it's a tiny space tucked between other busy retailers, so I have no idea how many people have caught on to it. I go in and say hello to the blonde gal (owner? I have no idea; I didn't bother to ask after our initial conversation) and began looking around. I simply asked if she had good traffic in her store, and she had a look on her face like, "Really?" then said, "Been here three years, so yes, we get enough business...Sorry, but I really hate when people ask me that."
First of all, this is your livelihood, you don't treat people disrespectfully that way and make them feel bad for trying to be nice. Second of all, it's a people business, and you're going to have people asking all kinds of things ALL THE TIME, so have more patience. We don't all individually know that other guests to your store are asking the same questions.
I don't care how cute the merchandise is in a store, customer service trumps it. I will shop elsewhere and recommend people I know do the same.
