  • If you can find anyway to travel other than the go train, I highly recommend! Use this only as a very last ditch! I'll give you three quick examples but I could go on for hours and give you dozens and dozens. Number one ---during the winter last winter they were 12 different times when I went to get on the go train, either from downtown Toronto coming home, or from Markham in the morning going to downtown Toronto. 12 times when the trains just weren't working, and the only excuse we got after standing around for 40 to 45 minutes with no communication was signal error, or emergency. I found out later that those two situations were suicide, So that's not their fault, but the rest of theTime, really, a train running in Canada in the winter should know how to keep their tracks free of ice that totally cancels all the train service for all these users who are paying a fortune. Go train cost me $7000 a year, that's insane. Far too much money for such terrible spotty service. Totally not dependable. Number two, almost exactly one year ago I was lucky enough to get tickets to see the last tragically hip show in the GTA, they played in Hamilton and I worked in downtown Toronto, so I did all my research which took ages on their idiot horrible website, to find out that there r a few trains that go all the way from Union Station to Hamilton. However not every train heading west always stops in Hamilton, sometimes they don't go quite that far. For some stupid fucking reason, go train have this ridiculous rule that you're not allowed to stamp your Presto card or print a paper copy card for your train trip more than two hours before the trip starts. What the fuck? Why is this ridiculous rule in place? I could tell you a huge number of different times where I've had the opportunity to take my kids downtown or etc. where I needed to buy the tickets ahead of time and not two hours ahead of timeOr less, and of course it never works. I always ask the staff what is the reason for this rule and they never know. It would literally mean more money for their pockets if they would delete the stupid rule, makes no sense that you need to buy tickets for a train two hours or less before you want to get on the train. Anyway, I found out approximately what time the transfer going to Hamilton and I have to time my lunch for a late lunch to make sure that I was there within the two hour window to buy my tickets because I was worried it was going to be huge crash at rush-hour, the lineups always getting around are long very very long, and the last thing I wanted to happen is to be late for my very last tragically hip concert, we all know this was going to be the very last time I would see my favorite Canadian band because of course gord downie was retiring as he was dying of brain cancer. I've seen tragically hip about 20 times and I wanted to last time to be great. So I get to the bay Street office, there's an enormous pissed off lady behind the window who barely speaks English of course so I very clearly, while repeating myself, clearly say that I need a train ticket to Hamilton that will go all the way to Hamilton with no transfers to a bus, what time would that leave? She says it leaves in about 90 minutes,
