| - Was finally able to stop in at Midwood today for lunch, and I was very impressed. Definitely the best BBQ I've found in Charlotte so far.
I ordered the large plate of pulled chicken in mustard sauce with bacon wrapped jalapenos and pimiento cheese fries as my sides. The pulled chicken was very tender, and the mustard sauce was decent. I also got some of Midwood's habanero BBQ sauce on the side, and this put the chicken over the top to amazing! That sauce is the bomb! Not too spicy, not too vinegary, and not too sweet- just a perfect balance.
The bacon wrapped jalapenos were amazing. Extremely smoky, great bacon flavor, a little cheese to balance everything out, and spice from the jalapeno.
I was able to have pimiento cheese fries as my other side for a $1 upcharge and they were good as well but not great. My girlfriend ordered sweet potato fries, and they were awesome! I would honestly rather have the plain sweet potato fries than the pimiento cheese fries (but I love sweet potato fries so I am biased). She also had the Cuban sandwich which was good but not amazing in my opinion. The hush puppies that came with the BBQ plate weren't bad but just average.
Our server was friendly, the atmosphere of the restaurant was pretty nice (although there is a slight smoky smell inside as any good BBQ place should have so keep that in mind), and the prices were great for the amount of food.
