I find this church to be an authentic, loving community with a hometown feel. I feel encouraged to grow in my faith, but never pressured to believe a certain way. There are a wide range of political and theological beliefs represented. Our family really enjoys the XYZ's (a group for folks who are Gen X, Gen Y, and their kidZ). Desert Foothills also goes above and beyond to reach out to the community. Outreach and mission are a big priority and there are always new ways to get involved, whether it is serving the homeless, working in Mexico, or helping collect food for the local food bank.
I especially like that people welcome my toddler in worship. I never feel that people are annoyed with him fidgeting or playing with his toys. There are times when he goes to the nursery, but that is my own decision about not wanting him to be disruptive, rather than other folks making me feel he needs to leave. Laura in the nursery is wonderful and very professional. When my son is having a "can't sit still" day, I know that she and the other nursery workers will take good care of him!
