| - Another disappointing dining experience at a Jose Andres restaurant. If you want to pay for overpriced, bland food and horrible service, look no further!
Since my friend and I were starving when we got to the Cosmo, and China Poblano was open, I decided to set aside my reservations and negative associations about Jose Andres restaurants and give it another shot. However, I wasn't surprised when I didn't love the food. Since it was around 2:30pm on a Saturday, there were only a few other tables occupied and we were sat immediately. I tried:
-Carnitas Taco (Braised Baby Pig, Pork Rinds, Spicy Salsa Verde Cruda, $5.50) & Silencio Taco (Duck Tongue, Fresh Lychee, $5.50) [http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/china-poblano-las-vegas-2?select=6eXGIf_eU7YK4rt55SedgA#6eXGIf_eU7YK4rt55SedgA]: I enjoyed the carnitas taco a lot more than the duck tongue one. The carnitas taco had good flavor, and the ingredients worked well together. The duck tongue and lychee combination created a slimy texture, and I wasn't a fan of the combination- skip!
-Papas Fritas (Fried Potatoes w/Mole Poblano, Mexican Cream, Queso Fresco, $7, http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/china-poblano-las-vegas-2?select=6eXGIf_eU7YK4rt55SedgA#WqRIXfHzRhF3CnxRCVLazg): The mole sauce was really bland, and the potatoes were limp/soggy. There wasn't much flavor overall in this dish, and I definitely wouldn't order this again.
The worst part about dining here was the service- it was INCREDIBLY SLOW. For a restaurant that is mostly empty, slow service is just unacceptable! Our server disappeared a couple of times, and we had to flag down another random server so that we could get our drinks, check, etc. It also took them over 15 minutes to bring my friend's drink so we ended up just cancelling it- of course, the apologies were sparse at best. I will definitely not be dining here again, and will likely avoid all Jose Andres restaurants in the future.
