| - I was invited to visit the Henderson Bird Preserve last Friday. I was so amazed to see what a beautiful hidden secret lay out in the desert.
The nature center was staffed by Mr. John Taylor who was very knowledgeable and helpful with our questions.
The preserve is made up of multiple ponds, around which there are paths, viewing stands, and benches.
We saw probably 50 kinds of birds: green herons, shovelers, grebes, cinnamon teal ducks, harriers, red tailed hawks, ibis, hummingbirds, verdin, warblers, thrushes, gnat catchers, geese, and more.
This is an outstanding place for you to observe nature, if only for a very pleasant walk.
The entrance is on Galleria, east of Boulder Highway.
