So my husband is a veteran and we bank with USAA and they're fantastic but there isn't any branch locations in AZ. So when my husband received his payroll check this past Friday he decided to go and cash it at CHASE. The check is drawn from chase, meaning the billion dollar Fortune 500 company he works for uses Chase for their payroll checks. Chase wouldn't cash it on Friday saying since the check was dated for Friday it hadn't been loaded into their system so they couldn't verify it. Fine we had plans to take our girls to the mall for some serious Christmas shopping but we could use our credit card and my husband was told he could cash his check on Saturday. He goes in Saturday morning and they verified the check, great! But they still refused to cash it. They stated without an account they will only cash checks up to $2500, his check was $3500. WTF! The check is drawn from their bank!! It's their check!! It says Chase on the check!! Nope they won't cash it. So my husband knows we need the money and says fine, I'll open an account the teller responds "sorry we don't have any banking associates that can open new accounts today." So here's a bank that won't cash their own checks! This is what a bank is used for! But apparently not chase.
