I shopped here with my family for many, many years. And we brought a ton of customers to Over the Rainbow as well. Owner Joel was always smiling, friendly and helpful. He made you feel like you were family. In fact, I can remember wishing that he was family! That's how powerful a presence he had.
I never suspected that it was an act. But things change and change again.
As the years went on, the store suffered from a lack of innovation in his choices for new brands. More than this, the staff got snottier and more obnoxious. And Joel's attitude changed.
Perhaps it was just life itself, but my last experiences here were much of what other people have stated. Elitists working who have silver spoons rammed up their asses pretty damn far. And my own personal experience with Joel, after 20 something years of being a customer was not very good at all. I won't go into details but I felt like all those years of kindness were potentially just an act. Maybe I'm wrong. But something not quite right at Over the Rainbow.
Happy to see that I'm not in the minority here.
It's nice that the manager responds to these reviews but clearly, not much is changing since they keep-a-coming!
Update: Owner seems to think that engaging in a private flame war with me makes good business sense and demonstrates his customer service acumen. He made sure to get in one last word before blocking me, even though I asked him to refrain from contacting me again in the first place. Very mature. And indicative of everything everyone has been saying here.
One thing is certain, the apple doesn't fall far from the rainbow.
