| - The Monte Carlo is now known as Park MGM. The lobby is so bright and welcoming. I wasn't pleased at the rudeness experienced when I went to the front desk to ask where I could check in, or with whom. I didn't know that you were supposed to self-check in on the kiosks in the center of what I thought would be a check in area. The woman I spoke to told me that she was NOT going to help me and that I needed to use the kiosks. I told her that I'd experienced some trouble when I was trying to take advantage of the mobile check in feature that I was emailed about just prior to my arrival. I explained to her that it had given me a response that said there was a problem or error with my card. She rudely told me to give her my card. I did and provided my ID and MLife card. She didn't acknowledge either card and just told me that there wasn't a problem with my card. Well, I didn't think that there was but your system sure thought that there was. Ugh! This was NOT the first experience here that I was hoping to have.
Parking was easy. On the 2nd floor there is a bridge that connects to the lobby area of the hotel. With my Gold MLife card, I was happy to take advantage of the free self-parking. I hear parking is $20 or so otherwise but I'm not sure for how long a stay.
The rooms are very spacious. The restrooms are modern as well. The bedside tables have plenty of outlets to recharge your various devices. There is NO dresser under the TV. The closet is small and doesn't have even a single luggage valet.
The pillows are plump and not firm at all. The bedding was a little too thin for my liking. The comforter was thin also. My husband tends to sleep with the AC blasting, even at home. A thicker comforter would have been nice. The AC worked well, however. Overall, I was not pleased or all that comfortable in their beds. You'd think that they would have gotten some new ones or better quality ones in when the renovations were being done.
The wallpaper in the hallways is very subdued, nothing new or fancy really. I don't know why but they caught my attention. The art work is very random and old looking. I thought that they would have also modernized the art work throughout the hotel during their very recent renovations.
The staff at the pool and retail shops were all wonderful and my infant daughter had a great time waving hello and saying hi to hotel staff. The pool area was neat and clean. There were more than enough chairs available but seemed light on their pool side wait staff. I didn't have the opportunity to dine at any of the new restaurants but it's on my list of to do's for our next trip out to Vegas.
The retail store that sells swimwear and other beachy accessories were very sweet. They were so helpful in helping me to find items in my size and definitely did their best to try and make some great suggestions without seeming too pushy.
I really wanted to like this hotel a lot more since I know that they've just completed their renovations but it is tough when your nightly room rate is less than the cost of the stupid resort fees!! The nights that we stayed were April 16-18. I payed over $70+ in taxes and resort fees. My nightly room rate was $70. Goodness. Well, that sucked!!
Bottom line, the folks who work here, with the exception of that one crabby lady at the front desk, are all so wonderful land friendly. The rooms are spacious like their bathrooms. Parking was easy and the renovations have given this place a lot more life. I hope that they'll do something about the bedding because otherwise that will be the primary reason that I will not stay here again.
