I really, really wanted to like this place. But unfortunately, when I was served chicken that was not fully cooked inside, that really just nose-dived this place to 2 stars.
We were recommended this place by a local coworker of mine since I was in Charlotte on business. Apparently this is the place to go for some good ole greasy soul food.
BF and I started off with the salmon cakes appetizer ($7.60) which were delicious! The "remoulade" sauce that it comes with is perfect with the salmon. I ordered the southern fried chicken leg with collard green and mac n cheese ($8.79). BF ordered the fried catfish with collard greens and mac n cheese($15). And all meals come with a piece of their infamous corn bread -- which was easily the best cornbread that I'd ever had.
Everything was great until I got into the center of my chicken, where it was uncooked at the bone. Our waitress came to check on us and saw my chicken and started to apologize profusely. She took my entire plate and said she would get me a new chicken leg. On the way to the kitchen, she showed another waitress the leg and they both started shaking their heads. She eventually came back with a fully cooked chicken leg at no extra charge which was cool, but I was almost full since I had eaten almost half of my previous chicken before I got to the raw part.
The rest of the food was great and the prices were definitely favorable, but it was unfortunate that I ended up with the uncooked chicken. Not sure if I'd come back next time I am in Charlotte on business.
