| - This is the best Ramen in Phoenix? Next time I'm in town, I'll should stick to burgers, beer, and good 'ol typical American food.
It's my first trip to Phoenix and I don't know where to eat. After running the Rock & Roll half-marathon, I'm driving around STARVING. Looking to somewhere to eat, I pass by Republic Ramen and I think "Ramen! My favorite!" And decide to stop in.
Inside, it's set up like a fast food joint: counter, register, and the menu posted high up behind the cashier. After ordering they bring it out to your table.
My bowl of today, and the last one ever here, is the Sapporo bowl - butter corn in Miso soup. It arrived and I think, "Where's the corn?" - It was sitting at the bottom of the bowl. Presentation is not a priority here.
My choice of meat was the chicken (which was also hiding) and I went with extra beef. I should've gotten neither. Both were flavorless, I'd even say that they were dry, even after soaking in the broth!
In the end, I've realized there is nothing special about this place but the fact that it must be the town's only ramen to have won that award.
Call me biased or spoiled, because I come from Los Angeles and we have the BEST ramen: full of amazing flavor and comfortable traditional environments. If you're ever in LA and you crave ramen, add me and scroll through my bookmarks.
I wouldve given this place a 1, but the people are nice and they show football on the tvs.
