| - After a 2 star meal on my first visit the owner messages me and asked if I would give them another try. So, on a recent visit to Charlotte I did, and came away much more impressed than by my first visit. Our waiter, Simone, was much better than our previous server - in fact, it was as if she had read my first review and was responding directly to it. She recommended a few dishes, explained what was in them, and kept my coffee cup full.
I had the Southern Benedict, which helped cover up the still a bit dry biscuits. I am coming to think that they just make their biscuits drier than I prefer. It's tough to make a tall flaky moist biscuit, but not impossible.
To drink I had the $12 "New Fashioned." Despite supposedly being predominantly whiskey, I couldn't taste it, perhaps because the small ice cubes used melted too quickly and diluted the flavor. Not impressed, especially for the price.
The small space also gets quite loud, especially if one group takes the volume up because then everyone else has to go louder to compete. So, I'd say its a more lively atmosphere than an intimate one. FYI.
Glad I went back and gave them a second chance. It was worth it.
