| - The Wetlands Park is like not being in Vegas, yet, right there is Vegas. You barely have to get off the "beaten path" to get here. I am jealous of people who live in close vicinity because the walking trails here are perfect for a morning run.
My husband and I took a stroll here a couple weeks ago in the late afternoon. It was HOT. But there are quite a few shaded areas to walk through. You can see a lot of bunnies, lizards, turtles, and different bird species here. Plus there are even some fish in the murky waters.
I would assume the area has running water when Las Vegas gets rain. However, when my husband and I went most of the pond areas were still, making the smell kind of atrocious. If you walk far enough back you will find the run-off coming from the water plant, which is, of course, what makes the wetlands.
There is a large modern looking building here. It was closed when my husband and I went, but there is a museum of sorts, some educational areas, and it looks as though a cafe is going to be opening up here soon.
I plan to go back for sure. The walking paths again, as I said, are very nice, as most are concrete. There are a few trails that go off hat are not concrete.
This is definitely a "not Vegas" place. No casinos, no flashing lights. Just nature and what not. Of course, it is also FREE!
