Came here on a Tuesday night with a bunch of friends. Thank goodness we made reservations cause the place got packed quick and we got the biggest table there. For starters we all got the craw puppies to share. It was small morsels of tasty crawfish. Crawfish flavor wasn't powerful but you can taste a hint of it. Don't smother it with too much sauce or else that's all you'll taste. Our table got an assortment of things, but I ended up getting the catfish with Gouda grits. I was debating between that and the Shrimp creole. Upon the waitress's recommendation, I went with the catfish. The food came at a relatively slow place. But the kitchen was small and we were the biggest party in the restaurant. My dish was good... The grits are not overwhelming cheesy and the catfish was nice and tender. The dish lacked some texture though. Everything was mushy. Also it lacked some herby freshness... You know when the dish is getting kind of salty and you want something vegetably or herby to cleanse the palate? It was good but I should have known that this would be a heavy dish. It came with the best toasted bread though. I love the toasted bread with olive oil. My friend got the jumbalaya with shrimp and I really liked his dish. It was spicy and sweet. However I didn't think the shrimp upgrade was worth it. They charge you 4 bucks more for 3 shrimp on top. I also got to try the smoked chicken. It was very moist but I wouldn't order that at a Cajun restaurant. We also shared the sweet potato pecan pie and bananas fosters. Was a little disappointed they don't have beignets. The sweet potato pecan pie was not that amazing. It's like regular pecan pie with a layer of sweet potato. I think you can imagine the flavor. The banana fosters bread pudding was like pure Carmel and brown sugar. I can feel the grittiness of the clumps of sugar in my mouth. Thank god we shared and everyone only had to eat a bite. All in all I like this place but I think some dishes are better than others.
