  • I had my tile floor cleaned back in July of this year and to say the least I was very disappointed and slightly weirded out. I still need to find a trusted company to come redo the floor. This will be a long one, because it was just so, so weird in so many ways. Because I was home alone with my baby, the technician first showed me pictures of his children. This would have just been a friendly exchange, except that he told me more than a few times he was their sole support. I realized later, it was to guilt me into not ratting him out for doing a crappy job - which actually sort of worked. The room was empty with the exception of a couch which I told him slid easily across the floor so he could do the tile beneath it. He seemed annoyed that he had to move one piece of furniture in an otherwise empty room - something floor cleaners typically include in their services anyway. I offered to come move it for him when he was ready. I pointed out high traffic areas and areas where things had spilled as you normally would for this type of service. He seemed to take that as an in to make excuses as to how those areas probably wouldn't look clean in the end. He also told me the floor would still be very wet when he was finished and that I can feel free to "dry mop" it myself after he goes. What? I have had tile floors professionally cleaned in rental apartments where it looked like barnyard animals lived indoors, and they came out looking fresh and brand new. And the equipment, the same as he was using, left the floors pretty dry, so I was very confused by his statements. When I asked about the safety of the fumes from the solvent he uses, he claimed it wasn't fumey at all, said he uses it around his kids, again telling me he raises them alone. Once he began spraying it down and I had an instant headache from the fumes, I took my baby to another part of the house believing it to be unsafe. The technician seemed disappointed that I wasn't going to stay and chat with him while he worked. It was uncomfortable. I came down to check periodically as I hadn't intended to leave him unsupervised in my home. One of the times he stopped working to chat with me and apologize for not having shaved that day, that I must think he looks like a bum. Wha-What? I don't care what you look like dude, just do a good job cleaning my floor and get out. When it was all quiet I came to see how it was going. He had already loaded all of the equipment back into the truck, and by the number of black shoe prints on my wet tile (no he did not wear protective booties over his shoes), it had taken him a few trips to do so. He asked me for paper towels to wipe them up! Wha-wha-WHAT? I walked around to inspect what he had done. It was completely impossible to tell if it any of it had been cleaned at all because it was dark from being still drenched in water. I slid the couch to look behind it. Bone dry. When I asked why he didn't do that part of the floor, he shrugged saying, "Well it's mostly done in here" trying to act cute, hoping I'd just let it go. WHAAAT?? How about I only mostly pay you then, bud?? I told him to get his equipment back in and finish the job I hired him to do. I slid the couch aside for him myself. Ridiculous. I was so annoyed by the whole experience when he was leaving, again mentioning his kids - you think I'm tipping you, pal? I didn't even realize he didn't leave me a receipt. It took me this long to remember the name of the company to write this review. I dried the floor with a towel, which came up with dirty black water on it, and everything looks like total crap. In the days to come, it became obvious there were patches of solvent he hadn't even washed out, so the grout is black and sticky. UNREAL. The only reason I used this company is because they could come the next day and I urgently wanted to set up that room. Bottom line is that you should not use them, you should wait for the company with the good reviews to be available, or you'll end up paying twice for the service you need, like I am going to have to do.
