  • Disappointed with my experience so far. I do not like to write disparaging reviews, but I don't have time to continue politely tapping shoulders up a management chain. My family just joined. We bought the unlimited package for my son. This includes daycare costs. My son's first day at the daycare, we learned that he hadn't been entered into the system properly, and we were charged for his first three hours which were supposed to be complimentary under the plan. We were excited about enrolling my son in the tumbling class, only to arrive and discover it was full and we had to be on a waiting list. Fine. We waited for the next class (which is not on the online schedule), only to find it was now 20 minutes instead of the 30 minutes advertised on the site. The length of the class, we were told, had been shortened to accommodate the surplus of kids who wanted to take it. A representative said it would only last as long as the kids were overfilling the classes. I asked when the 30 minute classes would be reinstated and was told, "That I do not know." Asked the manager and she said she would put out a sign in the daycare to see if there was interest in a class during a less popular time slot, but that they tried the same time slot before and no one showed up. Also learned that there were "waaaaay too many classes" to add more kids' 30-minute classes. I was told about this child overflow by many people, and will probably be told again! Here is my point for anyone who cares -- don't LIE about the length of the class you are using as a selling point for consumers like me. Scale accordingly or stop misleading parents. Representatives have basically said there are no firm plans to accommodate this demand, which is a huge disappointment for someone who has just shelled out hundreds and hundreds of dollars for an establishment that does not sell their services as advertised. A side note -- I was instructed to "call in" to the daycare ahead to make sure they had room for my child. That's right -- having a complete children's plan to pay for daycare does not at all ensure that your child may be accommodated. In fact, there are times when it's too full. If you are a parent who brings your young child to the gym, imagine having to call ahead to the daycare EVERY TIME you go. Imagine representatives telling you that no, you'll need to wait because ehhhh, it's looking a little full right now. So yeah ... you may have to work around that. And of course, you have to "call in" before the toddler classes to make sure there will be room, as there often is not. At least that's what I was told (post-enrollment, of course). Easy, right? Accommodating, right? Oh boy, I am SO getting what I paid for! The next disappointment. After being short-changed with the tumbling class, I tried to take my son to the splash pad. It was not working. There was no one on staff outside to tell me this, and I took my son inside, who by now was upset because of the aforementioned stuff. I asked how long it would take to fix and received another, "We don't know." The splash pad, daycare and children's classes were huge reasons that we joined the Village. Had we known that we would see these disappointments so instantly, we would not have joined. Personally, I tried enrolling in a class and was not able to. This was because in addition to my son, my own information had not been entered into the system and emailed to me (as promised) so that I would be able to create my login, etc. As for the facilities, there are weird little things. Like the bikes and treadmills facing each other. What's up with that?! For a long time, I've dreamed of joining Village. This membership was my birthday present! I truly expected better. Again -- considering the astronomical costs of this investment, what a disappointment.
