  • SLIMY DEALERSHIP!!! I went in to look at a 2011 Sonata they had listed online for $7597 with 103k miles. Sounded like a decent price. It had been online for 4 days, went into the dealer to see it and they hadn't even inspected the car. It was sitting in the back lot still. I went to go look at it with the salesman and it was absolutely disgusting. The inside looked like someone had lived in it. The paint was pretty swirly from not being taken care of, 3 of the 4 wheels had gouges in them from hitting curbs and one of the tires had a large chunk out of the sidewall. I started the car and the A/C didn't work. I decided to test drive a 2013 Hyundai Sonata with 22k miles, practically a new car. It was in good shape, and the price online was $11,999. When they came back with the paperwork it was almost $19,000. This included $4500 in "reconditioning fees". I asked what this was and they say it is the cost to get the car back up to par to be sold, and they fix anything that the car needs. I told them that that was absolutely RIDICULOUS and that no car with 22k miles needs anywhere near that kind of work. Plus, it's under warranty so they would have billed Corporate Hyundai for any repairs it would have needed. They then said I can drive the 2011 Sonata, so I did since it just needed a deep scrubbing, I can deal with the rest. The A/C magically started working and it drove fine. We crunched the numbers, and it was nearly $13,000 for a car listed as $7597. This included $2500 in reconditioning fees, which i told them I would purchase the car without them having to mess with the car. It's not like it has any warranty left in it, I was willing to live with any problems it might have, it's a used car and I'm mechanically inclined and can repair anything it needs myself. They had a $400 charge for paint sealant, which I told him was absolutely unnecessary, what are they going to put it on top of the swirly paint? I asked for no additional fees and we got down to a price of $8,891 after taxes, title, dealer fees, and registration. I told him i would think about it. I called the salesman back after an hour and offered $8500 OTD for it since it needed a $200 tire (I priced it out, it has 18" wheels). He said he would get back to me within 15-20 minutes. 2 hours later I called him back and he said the price they can do is still over $12,000 and they can't go any lower. He said the price of $8,891 was just a "what-if" price. I mean I had even walked in with cash to buy the car. The finance manager (who gave me the creeps, total slime ball) told me that the price they have listed online is what they have already invested in the car. i told him that there was NO way they paid $7,597 for that car for trade in. KBB value of the car on trade-in is $5,690-$6,392. If they paid more than that, then they are the ONLY dealer out there that are nice guys and overpay on trade in for cars. Was a total lie. I then got a call the next day (today) from someone there about wanting to know if I would be interested in a 2009 Kia Spectra. H#*L NO! However, the salesman Zach was very nice, the issue with this whole thing was their finance department and their slimy sales tactics. I cannot describe how slimy this dealership was. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
