| - Bmb is considered to be one of the bigger karaoke joints in Ktown, but bigger in this case ain't necessarily better.
There's two floors of karaoke space with about 5 rooms per floor, the bar is located in the basement and ONLY the basement is licensed so there's no drinking on the main floor. Service is either really nice or epically terrible depending on who is helping you. Food selection is pretty sparse, it's pretty much just soft drinks, chips and cup ramen noodles. Blergh! As for the Karaoke quality itself, the song menu is heavy on the Korean chunes obviously, and lacking in the English so don't expect to be singing Nicki Minaj's Anaconda anytime soon!
I've been here twice, the first time I was drunk so obviously it was a good time since I didn't remember fuck-all, the second (and last) time wasn't so great...it was a Saturday and I called BMB in advance for pricing info and the nice young lady was super sweet and helpful. I arrived shortly after the phone call and used my credit card to pre-pay for 8 people for a 2 hour block in a "drinking room" in the basement which came out to $96. Only 6 of the party arrived on time so we asked the young lady at the desk to look out for our 2 other friends and to let them in without paying since obviously we'd prepaid.
When our two friends later joined us they said there was a kerfuffle at the front desk and an older Korean man (who I'm assuming is the owner?) had yelled at the nice young lady who helped us earlier and made her visibly quite upset, they also told my friends they had to pay to come in!?! I went to the front desk to rectify the matter and noticed the nice young lady was now gone and replaced by an older woman with a bad home perm and a nasty case of resting bitchface. I spoke to the older Korean man and he refunded me the cash my friends had paid. I decided to ask if we could extend our time in the room since we were beginning to have fun and I got salty kurtness from resting bitchface telling us that we only had our remaining time and that maybe there'd be a possibility of another room freeing upstairs in the non drinking section, but probably not!?!
Unless your idea of a fun karaoke night involves being in a musty basement with poor ventilation and a busted A/C drinking watered down alcoholic beverages and using washrooms that stink of piss, and on top of all that receiving SHADY service, then take a pass on BMB and head over instead to XO just down the street.
